Luban tree grows on rocky slopes of Dhofar mountains and in abundance in Oman. The tree grows to 2-8 meter high with branched stems. Trees start to produce resin at the age of 8-10 years. Luban the resin is collected by giving a cut on stem, the oozing gum is fragrant luban. The luban was traded from centuries from Dhofar-Oman to international market by silk road and coastal port city of samhuram, now khor rori. The frankincense quality is one of the best, depending on the region of collection. Propagated by seeds and cuttings. Honey produced from flowers is most expensive and has nutritional value.
